Welcome to Woodmansterne Primary School & Children's Centre's Literacy Page

Welcome to Woodmansterne Primary School's Literacy page. At Woodmansterne Primary School, children are taught Literacy through the following strands:-

  • Phonics and Spellings
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking and Listening
Literacy plays an important role in the life of our school and this year the children have had the opportunity to extend their speaking and listening skills through the use of our new and exciting third spaces. Although the children are taught to develop their word and sentence level work through grammar and punctuation starters at the beginning of the lesson, we ensure that all our lessons are creative and that cross-curricular links are made with our termly topics. We are proud to say that we offer a curriculum which is both creative and is based on the children's interests.

This Literacy blog has been created to give you a insight into what Literacy looks like at Woodmansterne Primary School, to provide resources and information on how to support your child with the key strands aforementioned and to also showcase the amazing work our fantastic children produce throughout the course of the year.

I hope that you find this blog useful and I look forward to hearing from you all soon.

Have fun blogging :-)
